Heck, they can’t even define right and wrong anymore.
There is a connection, you know; between the government schools and the loss of ethics. I know you don’t want to hear it. I know your kids’ school has great teachers. I know you went to government schools…and you “turned out alright”…really? If you turned out so well why is our nation in such a mess?
Amen and amen. Can’t tell you how often I hear at my church what great Chrisian teachers are in the local centers of un-education, some of whom sit in our pews. We live rural so it seems everyone believes they are immune to the indoctrination and that their school is free of heathen philosophy. Yet when my homeschoolers come from church functions we have to have conversations on why “church” kids believe what they do – parents, grandparents, church leaders are deceiving themselves if they think that somehow their kid will avoid the godless claptrap while they spend more time in their peers presence than anywhere else (‘cept the computer). Peers teaching peers is the real outcome at school and what they learn is most often coming from the basest, most immoral of their lot, and that exists in ALL schools everywhere, even good “Christian” communities- and parents choose to ignore this truth. I am not perfect but agree with Daubenmire – it is my privelege to pass on our values with mimimal outside influence during the formative years. And pastors should be at the forefront of the movement if they were really concerned with their “children are our future” schtick. It is inconceivable to me how pastors can say this yet not fight fromthe pulpit they occupy for those kids spiritual safety and teaching. I will fight to the death if any law tries to remove my kids from my school, it’s that important.
I’m not sure how compulsory government education can possibly go wrong. They are from the government. They are here to help us.
